Rob was the first nurse in the UK to be appointed to the position of Consultant Nurse in Emergency Medicine. He has blended the academic and practical by completing a PhD whilst retaining a 50% involvement in direct clinical care of patients. He has a wide experience of training Emergency Nurse Practitioners and is an international speaker on the subject. He continues to contribute in the academic field and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing in 1999. In 2003 he was awarded the OBE for his contribution to the science and art of nursing. In his spare time he can be found either sailing, windsurfing or rowing - he has an ambition to row the English channel!
An educationalist and lay member of the judiciary, Cathy taught for over twenty years and was a Head Teacher and Ofsted Inspector. She has been a Magistrate since 1990 and serves both in the Criminal and Family Courts. She has been a member of an Independent Monitoring Board of a High Security Prison in the North West and her previous Public Service includes being a Trustee of a Hospice, a Trustee of a Shopmobility/Community Transport Provider and a lay member of a Local Research Ethics Committee. Her hobbies include playing bridge, music, travel, swimming and many types of craft activity.
Steff is Consultant Accident & Emergency Medicine and is on the Executive of the British Association for Emergency Medicine. He chairs the Clinical Effectiveness Committee for the speciality and works closely with the Healthcare Commission to improve the quality of care for patients. In the last 15 years he has travelled extensively in North Africa, along the Silk Route and Asia delivering medical training in refugee and relief situations. He has a particular interest in developing leaders and empowering people to transform their society in adverse circumstances. His hobbies are scuba diving, marathon running and travelling.
Martin is a successful Dental Practitioner serving patients in mixed NHS and private practice in South London since 1983. His passion is delivering good quality care in the Primary care setting and ongoing professional development. In 1999 he became Dental Adviser to Lambeth Primary Care Trust. He is a Fellow and examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons and mentors postgraduate dentists professionally. His interests are world affairs that affect the poor, oppressed and persecuted people. To relax from a busy life in hectic London he loves outdoor pursuits which include running marathons, cycling, swimming, fishing, scuba diving, rough shooting with his spaniel and has travelled widely.
